General Election 2010 -Republicans win House-Democrats control Senate
65The General Election on Nov. 2,2010 is over with the Democrats still controlling the Senate and Senator Reid will still be the majority leader . The Republicans won control of the House and the Democrats will retain Pelosi as a minority leader. Pelosi and Reid have had control of Congress for 4 years , 2 of which with President Barak Obama a Democrat and 2 years under the Bush administration.
On Friday 12/03/2010, Barak Obama left Washington for Afghanistan before the US Labor Dept. announced that unemployment went up to 9.8% from 9.6%. Fiscal year 2011 started on Oct. 1,2010. The 2011 budget hasn’t even been presented and Congress needs to pass a stop gap appropriation bill to keep the government working.
The Democrats want to pass an unemployment extension for workers who have been out of work for 2 years at a cost of $50 billion. The Republicans want to pass the extension too but the Democrats refuse to find the funds to fund the extension as required by Pay-Go legislation. Pay- Go legislation was passed by the Democrat majority controlled Congress in 2010 and signed by President Barak Obama.
President Obama and Democrat leadership are telling the American people
that the Republicans are holding up approval of the unemployment funds. Let’s not forget that the Democrats still control Congress and the Presidency It is disingenuous to blame the Republicans as they are not in control. The mainstream media also isn’t reporting the true facts concerning the issues, sorry to say.
Looking back on the first 2 years of the Obama administration which will be coming to a close on Dec31st. Sad to say that much work has been left undone by the Democrat controlled Congress. The tax debates on the Bush tax cuts are being debated in Congress. President Barak Obama is against extending the George Bush tax cuts for those so called millionaires making over $250,000.
Sometime ago in the past, Congress imposed a luxury tax on high priced
commodities with a desire to tax the rich who were buying automobiles, yachts, jewelry and other luxury items. Result of that legislation was a lost of thousands of jobs and some companies going out of business. Are we facing a similar situation today?
Today under the leadership of the majority Democrat Congress and President Barak Obama the recession continues and unemployment has risen from 4.6% in 2007 to 9.8% in Dec.2010. In 2009 the deficit was $1.3 trillion, 2010 it was $1.2 trillion and projected to be $1.1+ trillion in 2011. As of Dec. 3 the 2011 budget has not been debated or approved in Congress.
In May of 2010 I wrote
A record one-in-six Americans is now enrolled in some type of anti-
poverty program. USA Today notes more than 50 million Americans
are on Medicaid, up 17 percent since the recession began; more than
40 million people get food stamps -- up 50 percent; nearly 10 million
people receive unemployment insurance -- nearly quadruple the 2007
number; more than 4.4 million Americans are on welfare an 18 %
increase.
As you might expect, the cost of the federal programs has swelled
as well. Medicaid's cost is up 36 percent to $273 billion; jobless
benefits have risen from $43 billion to $160 billion; food stamps
have gone up 80 percent to $70 billion, and welfare is up nearly
25 percent, to $22 billion.
Since Jan.of 2009 the Obama administration’s economy has lost
2.5 million jobs after the $787 billion (now $825 million ) was
pushed thru Congress strictly on a super majority Democrat
party vote.
Since 2009 Government’s overall spending has increased to 24% from 18%
Of GDP. There are 42 million citizens on food stamps. There are 46% of
Americans unemployed for at least 6 months. Two hundred plus companies
have requested and received healthcare bill waivers from the Obama
administration including unions .
President Barak Obama previously stated that unions would not be exempt
from the healthcare legislation, another false statement by President Obama in order to get the healthcare reform bill passed. The Obama administration is telling the American public that the recession is over. The about summaries seem to contradict what president and the mainstream media is reporting.
Another example of what the media is not reporting. This past week the
Obama Administration announced that there will be AN EXTENSION OF
THE OIL DRILLING MORATORIUM in the gulf for at least another 7
months. Deep water oil drilling was halted because of the BP oil leak disaster. What the government didn’t announce at the time was that shallow oil drilling was also stopped because oil companies couldn’t get the necessary permits from the government. Due to The Obama administration actions some 60,000 workers are now unemployed.
On Dec.3rd it was reported that oil prices reached a high of $88.00 a barrel. Oil prices are projected to go to $120.00 a barrel in 2012 .There is no doubt that rising oil prices and increasing gasoline
cost are due because of the administrations recent actions.
In July of 2010 I wrote about the disaster in the gulf.
‘’Oil Moratorium In The Gulf’’
The Obama administration and the Democrat Congress continues to impose a moratorium on oil drilling A federal judge on two occasions has overruled the directive by President Barak Obama. In these troubled economical times President Obama’s actions seem to be suspect as to why a loss of some possibly 100,000 jobs is of no concern to him or the Democrat Congress
Drilling companies are relocating the platforms to other countries due to the uncertainty of government’s actions to continue the moratorium. It was reported that some of the platforms are relocating in Brazilian waters. Is there a connection between our government’s actions, Barak Obama’s political backers , a government loan to Brazilian oil companies to drill for oil in Brazil and George Soros’s recent investments in the oil company who received the loan?
President Obama and the Democrats in Congress continually tell the public that ‘’ we must wean ourselves off the need for foreign oil ‘’. Their idea to place moratoriums on oil drilling and withholding approval of permits to drill simply don’t make a lot of sense. It’s ok to fund foreign companies to drill and hire more workers than to support our workers and companies in the USA.
If the US don’t pump our own oil, please explain how that takes
us off reducing our need for foreign oil. I guess it’s better for this
administration to send our jobs overseas to Brazil and the George
Soros‘s group. Some say that the Obama moratorium is costing the
gulf area economy some 100,000 jobs.
The newly elected Congress will be sworn into office in Jan. 2011.The hope of the people who voted and elected members of congress to office is that they will change the present atmosphere in Washington for the betterment of the country. The majority of taxpayers want no new taxes, wants Congress to stop spending and to reduce the deficits.

Great hub,
The results of the 2010 election points to new interest in what the government is doing and not doing. It is hoped that the changes in power will cause an atmosphere of more cooperation between political parties.

The economy is picking up, especially in China. Oil was running short before, we need to get oil going again, or it will hold back and hurt the economy like it did before. People can't affort to pay over $4 a gallon for gas.
Keep on hubbing!
